The Cobwebs – Demos

Cassidy Meijer’s Post ‘Sin In Space’ band ‘The Cobwebs’

The Cobwebs demo and Cassidy Meijers final release is arguably his best. The three songs render Meijers’s Sin and Space fingerprints in demolishing raw tones and devastating lyrical themes. Meijer’s vocals fucking shred on these recordings and so does his band. Over a decade after his initial splash onto the Santa Cruz music scene The Cobwebs demo finds Cassidy Meijer transmitting terrible truths through a matured song writing ability.

Awesome punk/grunge/rock/whatever. From Santa Cruz, California.

Recordings are from 2010.

Live At The Catalyst – June 1st 2000

This release from us is thanks to Myrrhia Resneck, who was lucky enough to find it in a backup left at her old house ‘The Rez’. It is still unclear who recorded this.

This recording was recorded on cassette.
It does not have amazing sound quality.
It does however capture an awesome performance from an amazing band!

Cassidy Meijer – Guitar & Lead Vocals
Kirsten Rigg – Guitar & Backup Vocals
Becca Hamburger – Bass
Rick Walker – Drums

Cassidy Meijer – Live On KUSP – 1998

Back in 1998 before Cassidy Meijer had acquired a full backing band in the form of first ‘Swarm’ and then ‘Sin In Space’, he was a singer songwriter with an acoustic guitar.

Back in November of 1998 he was invited to perform his songs on Paul Couture’s show on KUSP Radio Santa Cruz on 7th Avenue in Santa Cruz, California.

Paul Couture had this to say about his experience working with Cassidy,

“I met Cassidy at ‘What Is Art?’ in 1998. He already had an impressive collection of songs, and he was a terrific performer. In November we recorded this acoustic set on my late night radio show. It was a lot of fun. Cassidy seemed hopeful and happy, a modest guy with real talent. I thought he was a folk artist, so I was surprised when he started a band. I shouldn’t have been surprised. He was hearing full-band arrangements – check out the whistling on “Laced”. I’m glad I got the opportunity to document his solo period.”

New News………

Well this week we have finally gotten around to releasing a live recording of ‘Sin In Space’ from 2002.
Recorded at the Plymouth Street house in Santa Cruz in 2002.

As always, you can listen to it from the site, or download it for future listening.

A very sincere apology to IPhone users who want to stream our music while you are out and about.
We haven’t gotten around to implementing the technology. You can just download the stuff at home and throw it on your IPhone/Pod to listen to later right? If there are any of you out there who are really wanting to do this, drop us a message and we might do it if we get more than 2 messages!

Earlier this week we got a message letting us know that Trog’s video/music pieces based around some of Banksy’s work were featured on a video blogging website from Sweden called Stocktown. Thanks for the page space Stocktown!

Upcoming Releases:
We have heard a rumour that ‘Trog’ is in the final mixing phases of his new album.
Hopefully we will be seeing this in the near future, along with a couple other top secret projects.
